Programmer Laszlo Hanyecz sold 10,000 Bitcoins to another programmer, Jeremy Sturdivant, who sponsored two large Papa John’s pizzas for Hanyecz on May 22, 2010. This was the first known real-world Bitcoin purchase. Since then, May 22 is celebrated as Bitcoin Pizza Day.

Later, when Hanyecz was asked how he felt about the transaction and whether he had kept those Bitcoins, it would have been worth millions. He replied, with no sign of remorse, that the two pizzas were the real value of Bitcoin back then, and he was happy to have spent those 10,000 Bitcoins on them.
The picture of the two pizzas is shown below.
It Wasn’t The First Bitcoin Transaction
Contrary to popular belief, which holds that the payment was made to the delivery boy, it was indeed a programmer, Jeremy Sturdivant, who bought the Bitcoins and paid for the two pizzas.
Also, this was not the first Bitcoin transaction. The first transaction ever of 10 Bitcoins was sent on January 22, 2009, by Satoshi Nakamoto to cryptographer Hal Finney.
